I get handed situations, not specifications.
Fourteen years in C#/.NET, most of them spent being the person answerable for a whole system rather than a component. The rules usually live in someone's head. I sit with the people who hold them, work out what those rules actually mean, and build the layer that lets the business change behaviour without an engineer in the loop.
Nine domains so far: real-time trading, commodity exchange price formation, core banking, payments and fintech, blockchain, national education platforms, government administration, aviation, and endpoint security. Different words, same problem underneath — a number has to be right, and somebody has to be able to prove it.
What I actually do
Own the outcome, not the ticket. I was the sole engineer responsible for a national platform for a decade. Every shortcut I might have taken would have come back to me personally, at three in the morning, from a user who could not do their job.
Modernize without stopping the business. Three framework generations on one live platform. A solution taken from .NET 5 through to .NET 10. Strangler fig refactoring in flight — no rewrite, no freeze window, business behaviour held constant at every step so technical risk never became operational risk.
Turn expert knowledge into configuration. Pricing policy that used to require a developer. Judging criteria that used to require a release. Thousands of versioned parameters that business users now change themselves. The best systems I have built made me unnecessary to their day-to-day operation.
Use AI properly. Microsoft Certified on GitHub Copilot (2026). Copilot and Cursor in the daily loop. The part most teams miss is not the tool, it is the repository: structure, context files and per-area architecture notes, so agentic tools produce something reliable instead of something plausible.
Selected systems
Real-time decisioning platform · sports trading
Pilbris AB (Pinnacle), Stockholm · 2023–2026
Several thousand transactions per second, each priced and evaluated inside a strict latency budget, across 20+ Kubernetes pods on Azure.
I owned the parameterized strategy framework: thousands of versioned strategies and parameters changed by the business without a redeployment. Complete ownership was a formally assigned objective and I became the team's reference point for it.
Also mine: an external state-publishing layer over RabbitMQ that enabled a new product line, including
the consumer client package and the producer/consumer contract other teams integrate against; a result
pipeline re-architected into pull-based streaming over IAsyncEnumerable so consumers receive partial
results at their own pace; and a documentation generator nobody asked for that introspects the running
application on every commit and publishes to the wiki.

Commodity exchange price formation
Barsad Sazan Kimia · 2018–2021
The platform that produces the official opening prices for petrochemical products on a national commodity exchange. A full day of work by a group of experts, reduced to a single click.
Principal developer in a three-person team. I built the rule-based pricing engine driven entirely by configuration, working from models the domain experts held in spreadsheets, so pricing policy could change without redevelopment. Behind it: a scheduled job manager automating a weekly cycle over approximately 3,000 source files from files, APIs and web sources, over a layered architecture separating calculation, extraction, workflow and reporting.
Correctness was not negotiable, so it ran under a formal change-control cycle — requirements captured in dated minutes, numbered and tracked to completion, including reconciliation investigations where a value was right in one part of the system and wrong or absent in another.
The platform was developed and evolved continuously for three and a half years.

Industrial production planning
Barsad Sazan Kimia · 2018–2021
Covering approximately 20 industrial production complexes, from annual planning down to shift-handover reporting.
The interesting problem was the data model: general enough to express each producer's own report layout, specific enough to aggregate across all twenty. I also built a framework converting expert-maintained Excel inputs into structured workflows, and a reporting pipeline rendering print-exact PDFs with rounding matched exactly to the spreadsheets it replaced — because the people using it would compare, and being off by a rounding step would have cost the system its credibility.
National lecturer training and certification platform
tec.uast.ac.ir · 2012–2022
Sole developer for a decade. The lecturer population grew from ~40,000 to ~90,000 across more than 1,500 centers nationwide.
Carried through three technology generations: ASP.NET Web Forms with ADO.NET, rebuilt module by module onto ASP.NET MVC with Entity Framework introducing the abstraction layers the first version lacked, then .NET Framework 4.x to .NET Core.
Highlights: a course lifecycle implemented as a multi-stage approval workflow with digital certificate issuance and independent verification; a data-driven assessment engine holding judging parameters, scores and weightings as data rather than code, so the scheme could be revised between years without a release; and a payment integration over SOAP where registration reversal is a compensating flow plus scheduled reconciliation routines reporting any discrepancy between the two systems of record.
I also specified the cross-system model governing lecturer teaching authorization across three independently built and separately governed platforms — data ownership, record linkage, the full constraint set and the point of enforcement. A supplier implemented it from that specification.

National licensing platform for short-term training centers
hctc.uast.ac.ir · 2012–2015
Built and launched alone, serving approximately 200 institutions: licence issuance and renewal carrying approved fee levels and enrolment capacity, evidence-document upload, a multi-stage review workflow and a caseworker work-queue.
I owned the full lifecycle single-handedly, from requirements through deployment to production support, and was the final national technical escalation point for it.

National faculty recruitment platform
farakhanjazb.msrt.ir (Noor Razavi), Ministry of Science · 2015–2016
The enterprise system that recruits and promotes university faculty, serving 20,000–40,000 applicants a year. I was the principal technical counterpart on a national programme running behind schedule.
Twenty analysis and design workshops in a single month against a six-month pilot deadline, modelling the end-to-end processes and defining the documentation standard in UML aligned to the BPMS the platform ran on. I made the platform itself PKI-enabled rather than bolting on a separate system, designing the identity-assurance and enrolment chain for hardware-token authentication to protect the confidentiality of expert reviewers' assessments.
Alongside it: digitizing a 97,000-file paper personnel registry in-house after rejecting prohibitive contractor pricing — a C# WinForms capture application integrated with scanner hardware, high-resolution images offloaded to external storage with only structured metadata persisted to avoid SQL Server I/O bottlenecks, capacity-planned across roughly 10 scanners and 30 operators with a peer cross-checking QC framework.

Independent contract · 2022
Delivered end to end in six months. I held the delivery contract personally, built and led a team of six across backend, frontend and UI design, and owned the technical specification, roadmap and cost forecast.
Sole developer of the core scoring and commission microservice: a CQRS, message-driven architecture that decomposes cascading state propagation through a hierarchical position tree into per-node updates, replacing an unbounded recursive write with a retryable, observable chain. Transaction contention was resolved with Redlock distributed locks scoped to each node's data, so overlapping updates serialized without locking the whole chain.
Payments and identity: Stripe card payments in a unified checkout supporting card and crypto-wallet settlement, Sumsub KYC with webhook-driven verification, OTP, and IdentityServer4 customized to add two-factor authentication. A Blazor wallet client on a customized Nethereum package with WalletConnect, Solidity contracts and NFT tooling on Polygon with IPFS for asset storage.

FlightRun · airport operations platform
Samaneh Hooshmand Pardazesh Qeshm · 2017–2018
MVP and early modules covering flight planning, resource allocation and passenger-facing FIDS displays, piloted at Qeshm Airport. The piece I still like: a metadata-driven framework converting domain DTOs into automated CRUD forms, which eliminated manual screen construction across the whole application.

Co-founder and technical lead · 2017–2020
Built the entire backend solo. C#/.NET REST APIs specified contract-first in OpenAPI, so an outsourced mobile developer could integrate from the specification alone without a single sync meeting about payload shapes.
Endpoint security and kernel-mode development
Mehran Rayaneh · ISIRAN · Douran · 2008–2012
Where I started. Windows kernel-mode driver development in C for antivirus engines; a quarantine module for detected malware; a USB protector that detected insertion, prompted the user before any autorun executed and blocked it in kernel mode when declined; the path submitting suspicious files over SOAP for analysis; and a rule-based access-protection module in C++ preventing unauthorized modification of protected system resources.
Also analysis, UML and data modelling on a core banking project, working under a senior core banking architect. The architectural decisions were his; my part was the modelling and the documentation, and it is where I learned how a large system is analyzed before it is built.
